Rafting Una River

Una River Spring it’s one of the deepest springs in Europe. The 218km river brings lots of water so rafting during springtime is one of the best experiences you’ll have. At the meeting point, you will check in, get all necessary equipment for rafting, leave your vehicle at our parking, and with our guides drive 45 minutes to National Park Una.

The starting point is at the top of the 18m high Štrbački waterfall. Below, beautiful cascades and rapids are waiting for you, to capture the best picture in white, and green mode. It’s a unique experience, to be in international water, on your left side in Bosnia and Herzegovina and on the right side in Croatia or the European Union. Clean and clear water is home to otters, trout, and many other birds, fish, and animals. Your dry clothes are at the finish, driving 7 min getting back to the car.

How much time do we actually spend on water?

You spend up to 2-3 hour on water. We do our best to be as fast as possible when checking our guests at our base but overall you need to allocate 4 hours including shuttle drive, safety briefing, getting ready for trip, instructions and getting back to the base.

How do I pay?

You can either pay by bank transfer that needs to be cleared before your ride date or Paypal or you can pay cash on the day. We currently do not have card facilities. Hugs are an acceptable tip (were until COVID), so are high fives and cash.

Can I bring beer or any alcohol to the river?

For safety and liability reasons, no alcoholic beverages may be consumed on the river or prior to our trips. Any participants who have consumed alcohol prior to the trip may not be allowed to subject to the discretion of the head guide. Abusive or drunken behavior that offends our staff or other participants will not be tolerated.

I am traveling solo. Can I join others on a trip?

Yes, we will recommend going with another person if that person doesn’t have a pair or with a guide, are solo in the boat, have plenty of opportunities to make new friends, likely you will probably end up with some new friends to have a beer with after.

What should I do if I’m running late?

Our meeting time is quite strict. We do our best to be as fast as possible when checking our guests in, so if you anticipate being late please call us as early as possible to let us know. As a courtesy to our guests who arrive on time, we will wait no longer than 30 minutes for you (i.e. If you meet at 10:00, then we will wait until 10:30 AM). If we do not hear from you and our messages are not returned, we will consider your reservation as a no show and it will not be refunded or rescheduled.  We are understanding of traffic and other issues so please communicate with us and if done so, we will do our best to reschedule you at a later time, day, week, however, everything is subject to availability and there are no guarantees.

How warm is the water?

In the summer months from July to September expect 17 to 25 degrees.

In the spring months from April to July 14 to 20 degrees.

In September, October expects 17 to 22 degrees.

What if I capsize?

We would do our best to keep you in the boat but it’s obvious you can fall in the water. No worries, after every drop is calm easy water “natural pool” and we’ll get you back as fast as we can. But have in mind it’s part of the adventure.

Is there any shop or restaurant at the river?

Our sweet Base in Primislje is in an awesome sunny location, surrounded by a scenic forest, hills, and mountains. We are the closest and most accessible company to the river, making us the best place to host your daily stay barbequing, cooking, playing table tennis, badminton, football, or be lazy in the shade with locals.

We are in a very remote area, only 15 to 30min driving to town so will be happy to recommend the best restaurants around, serving local food, as grilled fresh trout.

Do I need previous experience?

No, not at all. Your guides will give you all the required training and assist you throughout the trip. No experience is necessary as full and comprehensive training will be given. You will need to have a reasonable level of fitness and a sense of adventure.

Is there parking at Plitvice Outdoor base?

Yes, we have our campground at the base suitable for all vehicles, safe and away from the main road.

If I don’t swim can I join the trip?

Yes, every person must have a personal floating device (PFD) or buoyancy aid. It is also a perfect place to learn how to swim. Ideally, you will know how to swim, but it’s not necessary. Our life jackets are also to the highest industry standard.

What kind of waterfalls and rapids will we encounter?

Depending on water level there are 10 waterfalls heights from 0,5m to 8m. The highest 8m is perfect for cliff jumping, also 7m jump and 5m jump on the same one, something for everyone. No problem if you don’t want to jump, our guide will show you way down on foot. The highest commercial Croatian waterfall is 3m only allowed to go “one person one boat” followed guide instructions. Other waterfalls are easy to pass following guide instructions.

Are photos available for purchase?

Yes, we rent our GoPro camera. Your guides or fellows can take photos of your experience which will be available to view and purchase on completion of your trip with additional costs. Don’t forget to bring storage devices. Photographers are available on special request only. We are GoPro friendly, if you have one feel free to bring it along. Please bring a chest mount or alternatively we have helmets with attached mounts at our base.
